Ten years ago, Nemat Fahim opened Habib Market on Whalley Blvd with very little money and an enormous amount of heart. The early years were hard — months where the income barely covered costs. But Nemat never cut corners, never raised prices unfairly, and never stopped treating every customer like a member of his own family. Word spread. The community came. And they kept coming back.
Today, Habib Market is one of Surrey's most loved halal destinations — with a second location now open in South Surrey. What started as one man's dream has become a cornerstone of the community.
Born from Afghan and Iranian heritage, Nemat brought his culture's deep respect for hospitality and community into every corner of Habib Market. He built this store from the ground up — not by cutting corners, but by earning trust one customer at a time. His belief is simple: treat people like family, give them the best quality, and always give them the best price.
